Research Strategy Office

If the subject of a call for proposals is considered by the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and/or Heads of School to be strategically important to the University, or if the call requirements or subject area imply it would benefit from coordination, then the Research Strategy Office (RSO), on behalf of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research may coordinate the institutional response to the call.

The internal process depends on the call requirements: if there are several bids for the same funding call, RSO may coordinate them in order to ensure there is a consistent approach and avoid overlaps. In some cases RSO may initiate or coordinate a single institutional application. Potential applicants will be invited to submit a brief overview of their proposal and sometimes attend a planning workshop, in order to strengthen potential bids and connect researchers with complementary expertise, where appropriate.  Once the proposals are identified and/or strengthened, applicants submit their applications to the funder in the normal way.
