The Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF)
The Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) provides UK-based universities with an opportunity to invest in strategic areas of importance across their portfolio. The University has been awarded £5M over five years (with match funding from the University) to:
- Provide early career support for recently appointed lecturers
- Provide bridging support for early career scientists who are between awards
- Strengthen links between the biological/clinical and physical sciences through internships for interdisciplinary research
- Support capacity building in bioinformatics for translational clinical research
- Support key strategic academic initiatives in Structural Biology & High-Resolution Imaging and Correction of Genetic Diseases
- Support Public Engagement across the Wellcome Trust remit
- Support Equality and Diversity measures within the Schools of the Biological Sciences and Clinical Medicine
